The Lives Of Kenyan Orphans

By Essie Craft

It is definitely no easy to be a child without any parents to take care of you. At this point in their lives, kids need to be cared for with the utmost love and support. Without any mother or father, then there is little hope for such a thing. Sadly, this is a life that is all too common for those Kenyan orphans. It is the only reality they know.

The AIDS epidemic is nothing to joke about, especially in Africa. More and more families are being affected by this dangerous affliction and as a result, many children become orphaned when one or both of their parents succumb to AIDS. They can be raised by relatives, but many do not have that option either.

With the number of orphaned kids increasing by the day, something has to be done. Over the past several years, numerous outreach programs have sprouted dedicated to helping out the downtrodden and the unfortunate ones. Although they may have their own way of doing things, they all share a common goal and that is to fight for the kids.

Losing a parent can be difficult. Losing one or even both to AIDS is a blow that one cannot simply recover from without some support. This is what these programs are for. The threat is very real and everybody by now know what to expect from it. The aim many has involves relieving the pain these victims feel little by little through various means.

There are a lot of ways to help even if one cannot help out in person. One of the least and most common ways would be to send in a donation. This is a very easy method to improve lives and it is convenient as well since there is no minimum amount to be given. It is entirely up to the one donating as to how much will be given.

Another method to help out would be becoming a sponsor. This is a greater responsibility to bear than simply donating something. In this role, the life of a single orphan rests in the palm of your hand. They will be the monthly recipients of whatever you can afford to send and it will be spent on their daily needs.

Part of this deal would be the correspondence between the sponsor and the child. It is not frequent and mail will be sent back and forth for a minimum of bi annually to a maximum of four times a year. This can be a great way to get to know one another and maybe learn a little bit from the life of the other person.

There are many missions for these kind and thoughtful men and women involved in programs to undertake. It may not be possible to reach out to everyone, but that is not going to stop anyone from doing their absolute best. They may travel to different places or they may come up with events that will engage everybody into doing something productive and worth while.

Kenyan orphans will definitely benefit from all of these efforts. It is just a start for some, though. It may never be over due to the increasing number of orphans that is mounting on a daily basis.
