Gaining Self Confidence To Achieve Success In Anything

Where does self confidence come from? How can we get it? Why don't I have it? The solution to all of these questions can be solved with one word you! Self confidence starts with you, your perception of yourself, and what other people think about your actions or behaviour.

For many of us, a scarcity of self confidence only has an impact on our high ambitions. You may have always needed to get up on stage, or to be a professional singer or actor for instance. Maybe your life dream is to travel worldwide, visit different countries or towns, but you do not have the self confidence to do it. For others, the problem of self confidence is much more close to home - at the office, business meetings, public speaking events or presentations.

Self confidence issues affect many of us at one point, and we can typically find techniques of getting around the problem. Avoidance is one tactic we frequently use - if we can get out of a menacing situation we will make up excuses not to take part. Nevertheless there are times when we won't get out of it, or we really don't want to. If a lack of self confidence is blocking you from doing trying something new, or from succeeding in your working life, it's time to do something about it.

The starting point in improving your self confidence is understanding what causes the problem. Low self esteem, not believing in yourself or your capability, feeling insufficient compared with your comrades or friends or perhaps a kind of shock from your adolescence are all contributing factors. By examining the reasons for your low self confidence, you are halfway there!

Taking positive action to overcome your fears is the very next step to help increase your self confidence. A straightforward way to do this is by taking on little challenges. You have allowed your brain to associate certain events or actions with fear, so you've already pre-empted the outcome of these scenarios. By taking a little step in the direction of conquering this, you will find that the result is probably not as unpleasant as you think actually you'll probably be confounded about how good you are feeling and your self confidence will immediately increase.

When you have completed your first tiny challenge, congratulate yourself on achieving your aim. A small reward can frequently help. You are already on the right trail to improving your self confidence, so you are ready to take it to the next higher level. This needn't be a massive task; you do not want to undo all the sterling work. Building up your self confidence needs time, and while you might want to leap ahead, it can be a brilliant idea to take things slow initially. Steadily increase the hazards you take to get your self confidence to where you want to be. Risk taking does not, naturally, mean jumping off a bridge, but the generally accepted chance of something going down on account of your actions is mostly the biggest obstacle with self confidence.
