Getting The Best Cryo Services And How They Work

By Luisa Sharpe

There are quite a number of methods that can be used to treat diseases, abnormal or damaged body tissue. One of these methods is the application of cryo services. This is whereby cold temperature is applied to reduce inflammation and pain, as well as reduce metabolism or completely get rid of the diseased area.

Cryosurgery is a procedure that is used to destroy abnormal cells that are located on the cervical area. These cells would normally become cancerous if they are not removed in good time thus becoming malignant. Most medical practitioners recommend that this procedure should be performed. However, this will entirely depend on how severe the condition is and is normally based on results from biopsy samples that are taken from parts of the cervix.

The cryosurgery procedure involves the insertion of a specialized instrument into the vaginal canal and is firmly placed against the cervix. Once the instrument completely covers the cervix with the abnormal cells, liquid nitrogen is let out to flow through the instrument at a temperature of -50 degrees Celsius.

The abnormal cervical cells are destroyed by the low temperatures and they begin to slowly slough off until around two to three weeks after the procedure. The cervix is usually frozen during the procedure, and takes about three minutes. After the freezing it is left to get thawed and for three more minute, it is frozen again.

Due to the extremely low temperature that is applied directly to the cervix, a feeling of cramping may be experienced by the patient in the initial process. The pain might get worse than the regular menstrual cramping and clear off within the same day. Once the cervix adjusts to the low temperature, the cramping steadily reduces as the procedure heads for completion.

You must ensure that after the procedure, your body will be kept relaxed at least until the day is over. You can resume your normal activities the next day after undergoing the procedure. You may notice a light increase in the amount of discharge, and for you not to worsen the situation, invasive activities should be completely avoided.

Such activities include douching, tampon use and sexual intercourse. You should stay away from these activities for at least two to three weeks which is the basic recovery period. Abnormal cell that are located on the cervix and especially on the lower section have been effectively controlled by the use cryosurgery. In at least 85% of cases, the procedure has produced sterling results.

Cryosurgery is associated with some risks, just like many other procedures similar to it. The risks are however minimal and the patient should be prepared for any such eventualities. This will help in fully preparing the patient psychologically on what to expect after the procedure. Pain, fever, yellow discharge and vaginal bleeding that is not related to menstruation, are some of these signs. These should be reported to the doctor immediately the signs get worse.
