They are also considered senior when they are between fifteen to sixteen. In many cases, the horse must be given special manufactured food called alfalfa hay for sale.

Twenty years and beyond can be considered as really very old for their bodies and their organs start to deteriorate in a significant manner. As the animal reaches 20, his or her condition must be fully maintained well. There are common complications experienced by them. Feeding can be harder and challenging as well because you need to put in mind the factors required in the process. One issue that you may encounter is their teeth problem.

Their teeth may start to fall off and decay as well because of their weak resistance. If this happens then expect that their eating habit will be affected. Giving the right type of food will aid them eat and stay healthy even when they have oral problems.

Whether it will happen or not, the animal is expected to have bad breath due to rotten teeth. Having some thick discharge can be a complication as well especially if it is left untreated. It may get worsened and infected along the way. The animals have the chance to experience choking problem as well.

If there is worm infestation which can become the primary problem then proper treatment must be given to solve it. It is applicable to all ages, young or old horses. If the animal is ridden with parasites then the feed absorption may be lessened. One has to apply the right working program therefore which can last from six to eight months.

There are plenty of reasons why one has to consider the overall importance of giving the right food and all. This is to avoid worsening their condition. It can also lessen the effects of the disease such as weight loss. It is therefore important for all to ensure that the animals are properly taken care of.
